Join Gemma Blackburn, bookbinding enthusiast and Groover Labs member, as she takes us through step by step instructions on how to make your own stab bound book. Stab bindings are a great first step into bookbinding, and no experience is needed. She'll provide all materials and tools, and you'll get to go home with a book you made, as well as a list of resources if you want to continue exploring this old-world industrial process.
This workshop will also include a tour of our space and you’ll be able to see some of the tools being cut. No prior experience needed! Come connect with your creative side and with other members of our community!
Tapestry Weaving
Groover Labs Community Associate and local artist Amy Huser will teach you how to set up a small tapestry loom, weave different patterns, and make a finished piece of art! All materials are provided, but feel free to bring any yarns you’d like to include in your weaving.

As we work to build a community around Groover Labs, one of the things we want is to have the creativity of our community reflected in our physical environment. If you’ve visited and thought we needed a little something, now is the time to unleash your creative spirit and join us as we begin to address the large expanses of white walls. This is the first in a series of occasional classes designed to harness the power of community to bring our coworking and makerspace to life through a fusion of art and technology.
Groover Labs Community Associate and local artist Amy Huser will teach you how to set up a small tapestry loom, weave different patterns, and make a finished piece of art! All materials are provided, but feel free to bring any yarns you’d like to include in your weaving. The looms were laser cut right here in our Makerspace, and you’ll get to take yours home so that you can continue to use the skills learned in this workshop! Take home your finished tapestry weaving, but we hope you’ll leave it with us to incorporate into a larger work to help us fill our halls with local art!

We offer this class in person as well as over Zoom. Check our calendar!
