Crain Co. Acquires Conco construction
For just about the past two years, we’ve had the pleasure of being the central office location for Crain Co., the parent company of Crain Capital and Crain Development. We’ve enjoyed having them here. Graham, Randy, Jacob, along with their partners at Harvest Property Management, brought plenty of creative energy into the building.

In a community with majority tech members, Crain, an equity and commercial development firm, came in most every day, engaging with our members and each other, sharing about the projects they were working on, and asking our members what projects they were working on.
Members like Crain—those who show up and engage—uncover the value locked inside our community in a way that those who drop-in rarely tap into.
Now, we understand that not all work models work for all members. But this approach worked for Crain. We watched them unveil a $40 million renovation of two buildings in downtown Wichita near the Biomedical Campus. And we learned about the finer details related to renovating buildings listed on the National Historic Register.
With the acquisition of Conco Construction, one of the largest general contractors in Wichita, Crain Co. and team have departed Groover Labs for new office space.
They outgrew us.
So while we’re sad to see them go, we’re excited for Crain Co. and the entire team.

Conco Construction — one of the largest general contractors in Wichita — has been acquired by Crain Co., a prominent local developer and investor, the companies announced Wednesday.
The longtime firm behind the construction of several notable Wichita projects sold last week to Crain Co. to support its long-term growth and operations while maintaining its leadership.
“After 50 years, it was important to find the right partner — one that respects what Conco stands for and where we’re headed,” said Craig Nelson, the former CEO and chairman of the board of Conco Construction, in a statement. “This transition ensures the company remains strong for the long term while preserving the culture, values, and reputation our team has built.”
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
