We’re offering another round of Fusion 360 classes, and this time, we’re adding an Intro to CNC Milling and Intro to CAM to the lineup. We’re also offering a 3D printing class for anyone interested in learning the basics of 3D printing.
Register here!
Fusion 360 expert C.J. Caton will lead the course, covering essential topics like 3D printing fundamentals, sketching, 3D modeling, advanced assemblies, and the principles of modern machining. You’ll learn how to take your designs from screen to machine with practical, hands-on instruction. Whether you’re new to Fusion 360 or looking to sharpen your CAD and CAM skills, these classes offer valuable, real-world training.
Full session descriptions, enrollment information, and details are below. Groover Labs members will receive a $10 discount on each class in the series. Members: email “contact@grooverlabs.org” for your discount, or check your email.
The sessions will be held June 2-3, 9-10, and 16-17 at Groover Labs. Each class is available individually for $50 per session. Participants can attend any number of sessions. C.J. will run Fusion 360 on a large HDTV in the classroom, and attendees will follow along on their laptops, asking questions as they go.
Attendees must bring their own laptops with a free version of Fusion 360 installed. Minors 16 and older may attend with an accompanying adult. Space is limited, so register today!

Course 1: 3D Printing Basics Workshop
Step into the world of creation with our Intro to 3D Printing workshop! In this beginner-friendly session, you'll learn how to get started with 3D printing, what to look for when buying your first printer, and the key terminology that brings it all together—like slicers, extruders, and filament types. We’ll also cover popular materials such as PLA, ABS, and PETG, helping you choose the right one for your projects. Whether you're curious or ready to dive into your first print, this class is your gateway to turning ideas into reality.
Course 2: Fusion 360 Sketching & Constraints
Unlock the power of precise design with our Fusion 360 Sketching & Constraints course! This hands-on, three-hour session introduces you to the Fusion 360 interface, sketching tools, and the essential constraints needed to create fully defined sketches. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this course will provide the foundation for professional-quality CAD modeling.
Course 3: 3D Modeling Essentials in Fusion 360
Take your designs to the next level with our 3D Modeling Essentials course! In this three-hour session, you’ll transform 2D sketches into complex 3D models using essential tools like Extrude, Revolve, Loft, and more. Learn to modify and refine your models with fillets, chamfers, and shelling techniques. Perfect for engineers, designers, and makers looking to create precise, functional 3D objects.
Course 4: Assemblies, File Exporting, & Advanced Fusion 360 Capabilities
Expand your Fusion 360 expertise with our Assemblies & Advanced Capabilities course! This three-hour session covers creating assemblies, applying constraints, and simulating real-world motion. You'll also learn to export files for 3D printing, CNC machining, and collaboration. Plus, learn about Fusion 360’s powerful features like generative design, simulation, and CAM tools. Ideal for professionals and enthusiasts aiming to optimize their workflow.
Course 5: CNC Milling
Whether you’re a maker, tinkerer, or DIY enthusiast, this hands-on CNC Milling course is the perfect introduction to modern machining. You’ll learn how CNC machines move, what tools to use for different materials, and how to calculate feeds and speeds for clean, precise cuts. We’ll also cover essential shop skills like homing the machine, loading tools, zeroing your part, and running safe, effective operations. No prior experience needed—just bring your curiosity and a passion for making things!
Course 6: CAM Course
Take your designs from screen to machine with this hands-on CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) course using Fusion 360. Perfect for hobbyists and makers, this class walks you through the full process of setting up toolpaths for CNC milling—no prior experience required.
