Info For Members During Somewhere Fest and Conference

TL;DR - Somewhere Fest (6/13-6/14) will cause disruption in normal Groover operations and access to the building. Please read the details below if you are planning to come in.

We’re going to send this email several times to make sure as many members as possible see it. Apologies for the repetition.

Groover Labs is proud to be the site of the educational component of Somewhere Fest and Conference on Friday, June 13, and Saturday, June 14. The conference portion of the festival will take place at Groover Labs inside our event venue and will bring hundreds of attendees into our building over the course of two days for panel discussions.

You can read more about the conference, panels, and speakers here.

What This Means for Members

  • We’re closing the south lot (between Groover and Wave).

  • The east lot will remain open.

  • We think St. Francis will be closed between 2nd and 3rd Street.

  • Use the alley gate off 3rd Street to access the east lot.

  • All entry to the building will be through the courtyard entrance.

  • If you need a quiet place to work, especially as a hotseat member, please reach out—we’ll do our best to find you a quiet option.

  • You might also be able to use our alternate lot on the northwest corner of St. Francis and 3rd Street (catty-corner from the building). There might be a Somewhere Fest component there. Details are still being worked out.

  • You'll need to show your badge to get through security.

  • Try to avoid setting up meetings on Friday, June 13, where your guests will come to Groover Labs (limited parking, security, etc.).

  • Mail service and deliveries may be delayed due to street closures.

  • Groover Labs members get a 10% discount with a discount code. Check in with the front desk for more info. Act quickly, as there are a limited number of discounts available. More here.

  • Details are pretty firm but some things may change. We’ll keep you posted.

More Details

1. Building Access

For security purposes, all entry to the building will be through the courtyard entrance on both days. Festival security will be stationed outside the courtyard. All attendees, including Groover Labs members, will be asked to go through a metal detector. We’ve been assured it will be quick and non-invasive (they’re checking for weapons only).

2. Parking and Traffic

We’re expecting heavier traffic and limited parking throughout the event, with possibly hundreds attending the conference.

3. Event Venue, Courtyard, Boardroom, Conference Room

The event venue, courtyard, boardroom, and a large conference room will be reserved for Somewhere Conference on both days. The event venue will be set for approximately 250 people, and will be active from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

We know this is a disruption to your use of Groover Labs, but we agreed to provide the venue for the conference because we think it's a great way to share Groover Labs and our mission  with a broader creative and entrepreneurial community. That, and we want to be good neighbors. Hotseat members - please reach out if you need a quieter place to work, and we'll move you to a Workstation in the studio area for the day.

Thanks for your patience and flexibility. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out.
