Members in the News: Greenfield Robotics
Check out the latest news story about our Maker Labs Studio member Greenfield Robotics, whose fleet of farmbots removes weeds from crop rows in an effort to eliminate chemicals from farming. Groover Labs cofounder and Executive Director Curt Gridley has been working with Greenfield Robotics to design the electronics for the next-generation robot. Gridley, who has a deep background in hardware engineering and tech startups, began working with Greenfield last year.

Congrats to all of the Groover Labs members and former Groover Labs members who were accepted into NXTUS’s 2022 Enterprise Engagement Series. NXTUS, a local nonprofit whose mission is to support entrepreneurship in Wichita, developed the Enterprise Engagement Series under its NXTSTAGE umbrella.
Campfire Grad Launches New App
Recent Campfire graduate Bethany White has a new venture. White, who enrolled in the spring session of the tech startup course, has launched Lunar, a mobile app that matches moonlighting service workers with open positions in the food and beverage industry.

NPR 1A Host Jenn White @ Groover Labs
Jenn White, host of NPR’s daily radio program 1A, was in Wichita last week to support local station KMUW. White, who has worked in radio since 1999, was named as 1A’s host in July 2020. Tom Shine, director of news and public affairs at KMUW, interviewed White at Groover Labs in the event venue in front of a crowd of KMUW supporters.

A Community of Common Interests
Last week, one of our members went looking for help with an engineering problem: He needed a mathematician. So, we dug up a member who’s a physicist. The engineer and physicist met at the front desk and bumped into an economist. Together, the three of them—three people working for different companies on different projects—worked together to do the math, check the work, and compare notes.

Tornado Alley Press Steamroller Printmaking Event and Empty Bowls
Wichita State University’s student-led printmaking guild Tornado Alley Press took over our parking lot and lobby on Friday, April 29, for a special, annual event where they partnered with the City of Wichita to use a steamroller to make print images.
